By denying cabinet berths to the Congress party MPs from Andhra Pradesh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has, in a way, lent credence to the ‘self-respect’ slogan of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
The Jagan camp has now got yet another weapon to attack the Congress high command. “It has been clearly proved that the Congress high command has least regard for the MPs from the state. It has brutally hurt the self-respect of the Telugu people. Now, the Congress MPs themselves are making serious comments stating that the party is a sinking ship. In fact, the party is already a sunken ship. One could feel the presence of the Congress government only because it was formed due to the efforts of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,” Jagan loyalist Ambati Rambabu said.
According to sources in the Jagan camp, the young leader would highlight the self-respect issue in a big way at his Visakhapatnam rally to provoke the Congress MPs further. And with Sonia’s attitude towards the MPs and the media exposing her partiality, it is going to have a serious effect on the party prospects in the coming days.
